New Year, New Content Director: Growing Austin healthcare agency welcomes Meredith Newell

2020 unleashed a torrent of new challenges on, well, everyone. But for Distill Health, it also brought a robust roster of new clients and exciting opportunities in the healthtech brand marketing space. We’re thrilled to announce that our team is growing, too!
Meredith Newell brings 17 years of experience in healthcare and technology branding, marketing, and digital communications to her role as our new Content Director. She’ll be putting her strategy, direction, and execution chops to good use as we jump headfirst into what promises to be another landmark year.
Meredith is in good company with founding partners Gemma Nicholas (Client Service Director) and former Content Director James Hamilton, who will now take on the mantle of Strategy Director. In his new role, James will focus on advancing the agency’s strategic brand development and marketing services.
Meredith joins us fresh off a stint as Content Director at leading independent customer experience agency Hero Digital, where she oversaw creative campaigns and digital content development for major tech brands, such as Symantec and TD Ameritrade Institutional. Prior to that, she spent several years at an Austin healthcare marketing agency, where her skills proved invaluable to Alcon Surgical, Covidien, and many other global medical device clients.

A Personal Perspective

When asked why she decided to make the move to Distill Health, Meredith had this to say:
“I’ve found myself in a caretaker role numerous times over the years as various loved ones faced major health issues, including stroke, lung transplant, and addiction. So, I’ve seen firsthand the impact that a truly innovative piece of technology can have on a person’s life. From monitoring equipment and apps to data organization systems and implantable devices, these products matter — and I love feeling like the work I’m doing is meaningful.

“I seem to have an insatiable appetite for the nitty-gritty science and psychological strategy of healthcare marketing. I’m eager to combine the digital marketing knowledge I’ve gained over the past few years with my passion for helping people in this new endeavor.”

Getting to Know Our New Teammate

Professional skills aside, we dug deeper to find out what makes Mer, Mer.
“When I’m not nerding out over medical breakthroughs or marketing best practices, you can usually catch me climbing walls at the local indoor bouldering gym, playing classic rock tunes on my piano, tinkering in the kitchen with new vegan recipes, hiking with my dog, or camping in the gorgeous Texas wilderness. I was also an active performer in the local sketch, improv, and stand-up comedy scene for about ten years — but if you ask me to be funny on the fly, prepare for a deluge of Dad jokes.”

Final Thoughts on a New Beginning
